Service Description: Environment Protection Licence (EPL) premises boundaries show the location and
extent of the licensed premises regulated by the New South Wales Environment Protection Authority
(EPA). EPA issues EPLs to the owners or operators of various industrial premises under
the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997 (POEO Act). Licence conditions
relate to pollution prevention and monitoring, and cleaner production through
recycling and reuse and the implementation of best practice. The risk-based licensing
system aims to ensure that all environment protection licensees receive an
appropriate level of regulation based on the environmental risk of the activity. This
allows the EPA to better target regulatory efforts towards high risk and poor
performing licensees. EPA doesn't guarantee the accuracy, currency or completeness
of these records as there are known gaps in the data such as inaccurate or missing
records, which can be due to nature of the scheduled activities such as coal seam gas
operations, road constructions, wind farms, waterways etc. or due to the premises
boundary definition not being historically captured correctly. Users are advised to use
this dataset with caution.
